June 26, 2017. LIQVIS, a subsidiary of the Uniper group, inaugurated its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) service station in France, for Transports Ottaviani, in the commune of Cabriès, Bouches-du-Rhône, which feeds especially of biomass and coal to the Uniper power plant in Gardanne.
\"We chose to work with LIQVIS because it offers a wide range of services and materials tailored to our needs. The project has allowed us to begin our conversion path in a small fleet in order to test the LNG alternative at a moderate cost to the business\", explained Stéphane Ferro, CEO of Transports Ottaviani.
The proximity of the station to the plant is part of Uniper\'s desire to favor a short supply circuit and to improve the environmental impact. A responsible and perfectly coherent choice to feed its recently converted plant to the use of biomass.
\"The launching of the station in Cabriès reflects a unique complement. This is the modernization and decarbonization of our Gardanne power plant, thanks to the green energy, and the diffusion of innovation in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d\'Azur region through promotion of sustainable mobility in our partner companies\", said Luc Poyer, President of Uniper France.
The filling station currently serves a fleet of 5 LNG trucks.
Today, LIQVIS operates three LNG facilities: two in Germany, in Ulm and Berlin, and a third in France, in Cabriès (Bouches-du-Rhône). The company aims to develop a European network of stations to reduce the impact of road transport on the environment, with the opening of some twenty establishments in 2025.
